SIGNED THE VIENNA DECLARATION
July 9th 2010
On July 9th 2010,
Anti-Drugs Association has signed the Vienna Declaration, which is
the official declaration of the XVIII International AIDS Conference
in Vienna, Austria (July 18th – July 23rd 2010). The Vienna
Declaration is a statement seeking to improve community health and
safety by calling for the incorporation of scientific evidence into
illicit drug policies. We are inviting scientists, health
practitioners and the public to endorse this document in order to
bring these issues to the attention of governments and international
agencies, and to illustrate that drug policy reform is a matter of
urgent international significance.
The Vienna Declaration 2010
Anti-Drugs
Association will advocate for the incorporation of scientific
evidence into drug policy. Our experts in medicine, public health
and criminology will continue to work with international
organizations, international institutions and International Centre
for Science in Drug Policy on this issue, as well as with
governments in the region of Europe and Central Asia. With our sign
on the Vienna Declaration we have joined the call for drug policies
to be based on scientific evidence.
Signing the Vienna
Declaration on July 9th 2010 Anti-Drugs Association is staying on
all NGO goals which are: primary anti-drug work and drug prevention
with drug education and demand reduction recognised by UN
declarations and conventions and UN Office on Drugs and Crime
documents, HIV/AIDS prevention, drug related crime prevention,
support for the victims of the drug related crime, and promotion and
protection of the basic children right on drug prevention and drug
related crime prevention among children according to the Art. 33 UN
Convention on the Rights of the Child (A/RES/44/25).
